Nurturing the unique potential of people with learning disabilities
Harvest is thrilled to be supporting a fantastic local charity and making them our charity of the year in 2022. Minstead Trust supports people with learning disabilities to achieve greater independence, lead fulfiled lives and live as full citizens in society.
The charity was established in 1986 and incorporated in 1996. Originally a small project in the corner of Furzey Gardens, Minstead in the New Forest, with one member of staff and five young adults with learning difficulties. With a spade and a patch of ground and using horticultural training, those young adults developed skills, confidence and general well-being.
Now based in Minstead Lodge, Portsmouth and in the local community, the Trust provides a wide range of day opportunities, residential provision and supported living to enable people to live independently in the local community.
Each month Team Harvest will be running a fundraising event to raise money for Minstead - be it a festive jumper day, cake sale or charity fun run!
Saints Foundation is the charity of Southampton Football Club - they are the club's way of giving back.
Using the power and passion of the club to transform lines in and around Southampton, helping people to fulfil their potential to be more involved, healthier and empowered members of the community.
They have numerous projects for all ages and abilities across the city, focusing on those that need the support the most:
Involvement - striving to make sure everybody has a positive place in the community.
Health - motivating people of all ages to lead healthier, happier lives and supporting them to value their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Empowerment - inspiring people to achieve their potential by building confidence and self-belief.
Harvest have been supporting the charity for many years and we are extremely proud to be part of such a great charity.
Rotary International is the worlds largest service organisation and is made up of many Rotary Clubs across the UK. Each club is made up of businesses of various sizes.
All the businesses within each Rotary Club volunteer and support a range of charities and their local community in their spare time. They also participate in large-scale projects that are organised by Rotary International. Together, their goal is to help others.
We have been part of The Rotary Club of Westbourne for five years and have raised over £42,000 for a number of charities in the process. We have achieved this by supporting charity events, from providing all the fresh food for guests and participants who have taken part in different challenges. Some of the charities we have helped are: Cancer Research UK and The MS Society, as well as local charities in Bournemouth, such as The Elderly and Homeless and Young Carers.
"The value of Harvest Fine Food’s contribution is immeasurable – but over a year, probably amounts to around £4000.00 in donated food and we would like to thank all at Harvest Fine Foods for their ongoing support of Westbourne Rotary causes in this way." Rotary Club of Westbourne
